Three Picturesque Hikes from The Bolder
Skjerajuvet
Embark on an exciting hiking adventure starting at The Bolder. This trail has gently rolling terrain with many small inclines and declines. It passes by stunning cliffs, small canyons, and unique rock formations. Keep an eye out for exposed passages that add excitement to your journey. Highlights include the steep climb to Telenor-toppen, where a telephone mast sits at the summit, and the breathtaking Skjerajuvet gorge, perfect for a well-deserved break before returning to The Bolder.

The hike starts at The Bolder, where you'll find a well-marked trail that offers spectacular viewpoints along the way. Initially, the terrain features small ups and downs, winding through dramatic landscapes that provide stunning views of Forsand, Lysefjordbrua, and the unique islands of Bergsholmen and Litle Bergsholmen, all framed by the imposing Vikastakken. To the east, you'll catch glimpses of Songesand, Kallali, and Flørli, with Mount Hatten prominent in the foreground. After a challenging climb up the relatively short but steep Telenor-toppen, you'll reach the picturesque Skjerajuvet, a deep gorge ideal for a brief pause to take in the scenery before returning to The Bolder.

Hatten
Starting from The Bolder, this scenic hike follows a well-marked trail along the fjord, offering breathtaking views of the mountainous terrain. With gentle ascents and descents, hikers will navigate past dramatic cliffs, small gorges, and exciting rock formations, with some exposed sections adding a touch of adventure. While the hike offers airy passages, it maintains a sense of safety for most, although those with a fear of heights may find certain areas challenging. Keep an eye out for signs directing you towards Hatten.

Just before reaching Skjerajuvet gorge, you'll encounter a short but steep climb to the top of a hill marked by a telephone mast. Skjerajuvet is a perfect spot to take a refreshing break and appreciate its beauty before continuing on the challenging slopes towards Hatten.

Lysefjord Panorama Trail
This hike will take your breath away! If you can only pick one hike in the Lysefjord area, this new trail competes with Preikestolen. 75% of the route runs close along the fjord. The trail winds along several mountain cliffs and gorges, several hundred meters above sea level, through stunning landscapes past countless panoramic viewpoints, including Skjerajuvet and Fantahålå. If you pay attention, you will find the Fantapytten – Lysefjord's own "infinity pool".

The hike starts at The Bolder. The trail has some gentle inclines and declines as it winds past cliffs, canyons, and rock formations, with some exposed sections. Hikers will ascend the steep Telenor-toppen before reaching the picturesque Skjerajuvet. After a break at Skjerajuvet, hikers will continue towards Hatten. The path then descends along an old Varda route, offering stunning views of the Lysefjord to the west, including landmarks like Forsand and Vikastakken. The trail then goes through a lush forest leading to Fantahålå, which offers breathtaking views. After passing through verdant woods, hikers will reach Refsvatnet, where the historic Vatnegarden and Preikestolen BaseCamp provide a spot for a well-deserved meal after an exhilarating and challenging trek. Hikers can either turn around for a hike back to The Bolder once they reach Fantapytten, or continue to Preikestolen BaseCamp and catch a taxi for a 15 min ride back to The Bolder.

Located along the Mån river, this 92-meter waterfall cascades into a canyon and is a hidden gem due to limited access via public transport. A professional guide will meet you at your chosen time and location to drive you to Månafossen. The hike to the waterfall takes approximately 45 minutes each way at a relaxed pace, with stone steps making the journey easier. After visiting the waterfall, if time permits, you can extend your hike to the Fidjadal valley and explore the abandoned mountain farm of Mån, where you can enjoy a warm drink and snack before heading back to The Bolder.
